What is Chemical Pollution.
Chemical pollution originates from industrial areas as well as anywhere where there are people. Some marine organisms come in contact with these harmful toxins, and these toxins unfavorably affects the marine life and there is a slow down in terms of their population.
How Chemical Pollution Effecting :
Can cause various diseases
Contaminate and destroys soil quality by effecting microbes in it
Contaminate water by Fluoride, Manganese, Barium, Cadmium
Cause many skin and respiratory diseases
Events (Effects) :
styrene monomer gas leaked from a chemical plant in Visakhapatnam. ( May 2020)
Jilin city, china ( 13 Nov 2005): Benzene leaked.
Texas City, US (23 Mar 2005) : explosion occurred by hydrocarbon isomerization
Causes:
Crude oil & petroleum refining
Solvent (acetone, MEK, toluene) used in industry and household products
Plastics
Pesticides
Metal & their salts: usually from mining and smelting
Inorganic fertilizers
Sulphides
Ammonia
Acids and bases: used in variety of industries
Perchlorate
